Just a few dating no-no's for all you...under-experienced folks out there.
Not that I'm pro...but I've picked up on quite a few of these lately...
BOYS:
1. Don't bring up marriage on the first date. That is WEIRD. Even if you're feelin' it hardcore...just don't bring it up. That is not something that should be discussed on a first or even, in my opinion, second date. I don't care if you're best friend's cousin proposed on the first date and they've been happily married for ten years DON'T DO IT!
2. Don't bring up other girls that you've dated in the past. If it comes up, which it really shouldn't, then briefly address it and move on quickly. Don't sit there and demand that your date goes on a good ol' trip down memory lane with you because I guarantee she doesn't want to.
3. Don't think you need to have a DTR with her just because she is putting out a vibe that you aren't feeling. You haven't done anything wrong by asking her on one date; therefore, you owe her nothing. If she thinks it's more than it is, then she'll figure it out eventually when you don't ask her out again. It's weird to bring up a relationship after the first date anyway. So just don't bring it up.
4. When asking a girl on a date DO NOT DO IT IN A TEXT MESSAGE. It's a turn-off and it wouldn't be that big of a shocker to me if she said no. That goes even more strongly for DTR's. Don't bring up something that important in a text message. If it does happen to get brought up in a text message then pick up that dang phone and call her! Be a man :)
5. While on a date, focus on her. Don't focus on your friend's date or the waitress or your friend. Focus all your attention on her. Get to know her. Because that is what dating is for! And on top of that, actually listen to her. Don't pretend that you're listening...actually listen. Because it's very un-impressive to girls when you ask important questions more than once.
6. Even if you hate it, be a gentleman. Especially if you like her. This is a big DUH but it needs to be said apparently. Open her doors, tell her she looks nice, pick her up at her door at the beginning and drop her off at her door at the end, tell her thank-you for going with you, I mean come on, it's not that hard.
7. Have a plan. Not having one is definitely on my list of top-three biggest turn-offs. If you want her to lose interest fast, then ask her what she thinks you should do when you're done with dinner...
I could go on...but I want to make time for my next list. Which is obviously not as good because I am one and if I were perfect in this area well...then...I would be happily married. And I would've written a book and earned millions from it already.
GIRLS:
1. Don't assume that just because he asked you on one date that he wants to marry you. If he continues to ask you out and asks you to be his girlfriend...well you still shouldn't even assume that he wants to marry you. Until he has put a ring on that finger of yours...don't assume anything. Because boys don't think their actions through as thoroughly as girls do and could be totally oblivious. It's true they could be thinking marriage as well...but just don't assume he is until you talk about it.
2. When a guy says, "You look nice" or anything along those lines, just say thank you. Stop saying things like, "Oh yeah right" or "Then you must not have seen this big hole I just found in the pocket of my jeans" or something unimportant like that. Because he'll stop saying nice things if you don't seem to appreciate them. And we're girls we like to be complimented. So embrace it even if you don't feel like you look nice.
3. Don't try and take control. Boys generally like to be in control and really thats what they should be doing. You shouldn't be in control until after the "I do's". Then you get all the control you want :) haha. Just give him some time and be patient. If he wants to make it happen he will.
4. Let him pay and let him be a gentleman. That is pretty self-explanatory.
That's all for now kids. Goodnight! :)
